The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable learners to apply basic health and safety legislation in the form of standards and procedures governing health and safety in the workplace, to ensure that they contribute to a safe, healthy environment for themselves and others.
This competence will equip individuals to reflect on and make informed choices about their attitudes and behavioural practices. It will also contribute to building a wider understanding of HIV/AIDS issues; to the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS; and to workplaces which are more responsive to the needs of those living with HIV and AIDS.
English Literacy and Numeracy Competencies are essential for success in the Health and Safety in the Workplace course. They enable learners to interpret safety protocols, communicate hazards, calculate measurements, and make informed decisions to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
