116144 – Harvesting and Processing Animal Products

A person achieving this unit standard will be able to understand how to harvest animal products, prepare them for processing and identify processes involved in processing of animal products. In addition they will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of animal production. Learners will gain specific knowledge and skills in harvesting animal products and will be able to operate in an animal production environment implementing sustainable and economically viable production principles. They will be capacitated to gain access to the mainstream agricultural sector, in animal production, impacting directly on the sustainability of the sub-sector. The improvement in production technology will also have a direct impact on the improvement of agricultural productivity of the sector.

116643 – Feedlot Processing Treatment Programs

A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in applying feedlot processing treatment programs to enhance livestock health and quality. The scope of this unit standard deals with the preparation, cleaning and administering of treatments and restoring of facilities and equipment.

116063 – Responding to Defensive Animal Behaviour

The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to respond appropriately to defensive behavior in specific animals. In addition they will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of agriculture to the benefit of the industry.

116055 – Determining Relative Density of Fluids

This unit standard is for persons responsible for the determination of relative density of a fluid. A person credited with this unit standard can demonstrate knowledge relating to the determination of relative density, prepare to determine relative density, determine relative density, and complete the duties pertaining to the determination of relative density.

116120 – Identifying Abnormalities in Pig Husbandry
