Nelson Mandela University (Mandela University) hosts its annual Research Week in September 2025. As part of the Research Week, the Innovation Office runs a research commercialisation competition for Nelson Mandela University Students who are currently engaged in research activities. The competition runs in two stages, where stage 1 the applicants are invited to attend a 2-day pitching workshop, where they will be workshopped by an expert on how to write and present a business case. Stage two they pitch their research to a group of adjudicators for a chance to win R100,000. We had the privilege of having Mr. Willem Gous facilitate the pitching workshop, and he was outstanding.
